Podcast - Making a Case

Project Description

 

The podcast discusses what a podcast is and an article titled “Podcasting as Compliment to Graduate Teaching: Does it Accommodate Adult Learning Theories?” The article reports on an exploratory study that was conducted in 2011 at a large Midwestern university and was used to determine the perceptions of graduate students on podcasting. The podcast is meant for instructors, instructional designers, and students.

 

Demonstrates Mastery

 

I would like to be an instructional designer someday. The podcast demonstrates mastery of outcome four since as an instructional designer I will have to consider how learners perceive the use of instructional materials, like podcasts, which is what I discussed in the podcast. This demonstrates critical thinking skills in an area of my professional life. By creating a podcast I have also demonstrated mastery of outcome four since I have demonstrated creating thinking skills in an area of my professional life. Instead of creating a podcast I could have written up a small paper with a summary of the article discussed in the podcast. The podcast is a more fun, engaging, and creative way to delivery this information to my audience. As a future instructional designer, it is important for me to consider the different ways to deliver information to an audience and the best way to do so.

 

Benefits

 

The podcast is meant for instructors, instructional designers, and students. This podcast can be helpful for instructors and instructional designers because it will help show them how students think podcasting helps them and what they help them with. Knowing this can help instructors and instructional designers implement podcasting into instruction. Students would be interested in this podcast because it will show them how listening to podcasts can help their learning.

Personal Learning Network (PLN) - LinkedIn

Project Description

 

For this project I chose to create an account with LinkedIn and learn how to use it. I documented my experience and created a PowerPoint with Ilona DiCosmo, one of my peers, on LinkedIn and our experiences with it. The PowerPoint can help others learn about LinkedIn and how it can be used professionally.

 

Demonstrates Mastery

 

This PLN project demonstrates master of outcome four since I was able to use my critical and creative thinking skills in my professional life by learning how to use a new PLN and develop a professional profile as well as research and join professional groups. 

 

Benefits

 

The PLN PowerPoint can be beneficial to college students who are close to graduating and people who are already in the professional world who do not know about LinkedIn and how to use it. LinkedIn is a great professional tool. This presentation will show them that LinkedIn can help them develop a professional profile, search for jobs, and join professional groups.
