Artifact 3: D2L Student Crash Course

Artifact Description

During my internship I helped build a Desire2Learn (D2L) Student Crash Course. This course is meant for students who are new to D2L. The course will help students get started on D2L and teach them how to find things in a D2L course as well as complete coursework, like taking a quiz, participating in a discussion, and submitting an assignment to a dropbox folder. I built the course in D2L and my supervisor, Anthony Leisen, gave me feedback on ways to improve the course. A few faculty members also had input on what the course should look like and what should be included in the course. The D2L Student Crash Course has not been implemented yet but hopefully it will be for the Fall 2015 semester. The course is still being reviewed so I am sure a few more edits will be made to the course before it is implemented. Please view the video to the right to see what the D2L Student Crash Course looked like at the end of my internship.

Reflection

I enjoyed building the D2L Student Crash Course. I used D2L as a student all the time so it was nice to use D2L as a faculty member and get some more experience with building an online courses. There is a lot of work and so many things to consider when building an online course. It is very time consuming and important to be organized. It was nice to collaborate with my supervisor and other faculty members when building the course. I hope the course gets implemented in the near future.
